LET'S TWIST AGAIN, LIKE WE DID LAST SUMMER.

You spin me right round, baby, right round
Like a record, baby, right round, round, round
You spin me right round, baby, right round
Like a record, baby, right round, round, round” – Dead or Alive.

I have to laugh, on Monday night some of the Unit players went back to the Legion, we weren't in the Legion for more than 5 minutes and we were hearing how the Units are a “Stacked Team”. It was funny because it was the first game of the season.

Coventry Park- In our first game, we came out swinging putting up 18 runs against the Dogcatchers and holding the Dogcatchers to 4 runs. In this game we came out swinging, but the Twisters put up some resistance and when the diamond dust settled the Units topped the Twisters 21-10.

The weather for this game was in the 20s, there was a soft breeze, at game time the sun was setting on Coventry 2, it created a little bit of a problem, but it didn't last long. The Units had 9 guys, we were the visitors, the scorekeeper was Terri, and the umpire was Steve for the second game this week. Missing from the Units were Mike B., Fabio N., and Matt M. We picked up Little Dennis Short as a sub on the night.

The first 2 innings of the game, the Unit's bats were firing on all cylinders scoring 5 in the first and 5 in the second. The Twisters countered with 3 over the 2 innings. In the third inning, the Units went down quickly, the Twisters scored 2 more runs to tighten the score. After 3 complete inning the score was 10-5 for the Units.

This game was not the most exciting game, in fact it was kind of mechanical, both teams got hits and runs, but really there were no real highlights or spectacular plays. There were a couple of nice grabs, especially by Jim R at third base and Michael G. impressed me with his defensive play. This game was the season opener for the Twisters, they'll find their hitting after a couple more games under their belt. They were a little rusty in this game.

In the fourth inning, both teams scored a single run. In the fifth inning, both teams scored 4 runs each. In the sixth inning, which was the open inning again for us in this game (I think six innings is going to be the normal this year in the league, maybe only 5 in high scoring games) the Units scored 6 more runs and in the bottom of the inning, the Units shut down the Twisters. The “STACKED” Hurtin' Units win, for the second time this week by a score of 21-10. After watching other games this week, the Units are not the only “ STACKED” team in the league this season. What is cool is to see the Hurtin' Units on the top of the standings after the first week of the season.

The Units next game is next Wednesday May 21st vs. The Beer Bros.
