Hurtin' Units on the Train to Dodge City.

Hurtin' Units vs. Dodge City

Game # 13 – July 17th , 2025

Hurtin' Units lose 12-11

Team Record – 6-7-0

Coventry Park- Well, after the six Hurtin' Unit players finished up the tournament, the rest of the team met up at the train station for a trip into the meanest, nastiest town in all our league. That's right, we were heading down to Dodge City to shoot it out with Beechy and his gang, the Battin' Boys.

In Coventry, the heat over the weekend was stifling, and the players were faced with temperatures in the 30s and a scorching sun beating down on them. Most guys came out unscathed, thankfully Ye Olde Pavilion was open, and cold beverages, such as beer and whiskey, were being served. Our boys, Pistol Pete and Kid Kyle, were on the two teams left standing at the end of the day. Kid Kyle would be on the winnin' side and all them there kids will benefit from this tournament.

When the train pulled into Dodge City, the team disembarked and headed to the Hotel. We checked and headed for the playing field. We only had 10 of our players, Mike B was in California, and Fabio N. was unable to make the trip. The temperature had dropped in Dodge; it was only in the high teens, dark clouds hung over the town, there was a chance of rain, and somewhere in the distance, crows could be heard cawing. A large, shallow man came out from behind the bleachers. It was Roman D., once the biggest, meanest gunslinger in all the territory, who was to be the umpire for this here game. Sandy D was ye ole scorekeeper for the game.

This was a close shootout, both teams wanted to be victorious, but in the end, Dodge would want it a little bit more, winning by a score of 12-11, in the bottom of the open inning. I did not git the paperwork for the game, we were tired and just wanted to get back to the Legion Saloon for a cold beverage. I will be sure to include a summary of the game on a post before we git out of town. Dodge City had most of their team go back to the Legion Saloon; they even ordered greasy wheel-shaped food to eat with their beers. A few Units Players went back to the Saloon, but Dodge was celebrating and didn't give no never mind.

The Hurtin' will be back at home for their next game, Tuesday, July 22nd, at Coventry Park vs. The Gamblers.
